The Staten Island Children's
Museum appeals to the intrepid explorer in
every child. Interactive exhibitions and creative
workshops offer plenty of opportunities for hands-on,
first hand experiences that nurture children's natural

Exhibits:
•The Big Game: Come and play some big
board games. Kids can play chess, checkers and dominoes.
•Bugs and Other Insects:
Become a spider and catch a meal, help pollinate
flowers, create your own insect, examine a honey bee
hive, crawl through an ant hill and watch butterflies
being born.
•Block Harbor: Explore
the pirate ship and pretend to be a sailor; cross over
the bridge and be a lookout on the upper deck, peep
through a telescope, ring the bell, navigate the wheel,
cook in the galley; make a block city – or just make
believe.
•Great Explorations:
Explore a rainforest canopy and cave, drive a dogsled in
the tundra or dive to the ocean floor, build an igloo,
cross a river, walk on snow shoes, host a radio show,
drive a submersible. Learn about extreme environments.
•House About It: It's all
about the homes people go to, how they are built and the
people who build them. Work in our frame house, use the
digger and the wrecking ball, work with a real drill,
design and decorate. Learn about all the different
trades.
•Portia's Playhouse: An
authentic theatre with plenty of costumes to help young
thespians pretend. Kids can put on skits using props and
sound effects to enhance the performance on the real
stage. (Closed when performances are scheduled)
•Ladder 11: Pretend you
are a firefighter – ring the bell, slide down the pole,
don firefighter gear, manipulate the gauges, hook up a
hose and jump aboard our fire truck.
•Sea Of Boats: (weather
permitting) An outdoor sea-faring play-space that
features boats, a lighthouse, a crow's nest with
activities including radar, Morse Code, fishing,
oystering, water play and other nautical knick-knacks.

Historic Richmond Town - 441 Clarke

sites, which includes tours of Decker Farm,
Billiou-Stillwell-Perine House and Judge Jacob Tysen House
where visitors can experience life in early America. The
daily tours are each different experiences so you may want
to plan your visit based on what interests you the most.

Apr 15 Historic Richmond Town Easter Egg
Hunt – Bring an egg carton to decorate in high
Victorian style, transforming it into a festive egg-holder
which can hold up to 6 candy-filled eggs. All decorations
are provided. Meet the Easter Bunny as you hunt for eggs in
a Victorian town house decorated for spring at 11am.
Refreshments will be served. Recommended for children ages
3 and up. Prepaid reservations required. Tickets are $10
for children and $5 for adults.
